Brief Itinerary

 
Day 1: Delhi
Arrive in Delhi, there are no panned activity today. Delhi, India’s capital is an exciting, busy and at times chaotic but mostly interesting with tons of historic sights, museum and endless bazaars. There is more to see and do than you could possibly fit in during your time here. A pre-departure meeting takes place this evening at the hotel

Day 2: Delhi city tour / Train to Udaipur
Today we dive into the heart of Delhi’s old city to visit the “Jama Masjid. We also have opportunity to witness oldest and most colorful bazaars of Chandani Chowk and spice market. Afternoon free to explore further this bustling city. Catch a sleeper train to Udiapur in the evening.

Day 3 & 4: Udaipur
Udaipur is surely the most romantic and picturesque city of Rajasthan. We take a guided city tour to explore Jagdish temple and city Place. Free time to enjoy a relaxing boat ride in Lake Pichola or drive upto hilltop monsoon palace for spectacular views of this magical city.

Day 5: Bijaipur
Explore remote village of Bijaipur. We stay in 17th centaury heritage fortress. Walk around in the surrounding colourful streets. There is also opportunity for a villages safari to witness the life in Indian villages.

Day 6:  Pushkar
Welcome to the serene oases town, with its many holy men, pilgrims and temples a visit to Pushkar is truly enchanting. Wonder around sacred ghats, shop for souvenirs and hike up to hilltop Savitri temple for great views or spending time at one of the many relaxing cafes in town.

Day 7 & 8: Jaipur
This capital of Rajasthan, city of Jaipur is famous for its Marvelous architecture and town planning. During our stay we explore magnificent Amber Fort, perched on a hilltop outside town and wonder around the old city with its busy shops, latticed windows houses and rose pink colour streets.

Day 9 & 10: Agra
Watch the Sunrise over reputedly the most beautiful building in the world, the sublime Taj Mahal . Free time to further explore other marvelous Mugal Monuments like, grand Red fort and Itmad-ul-daula.

Day 11: Orchha
Catch a morning train and continue to picturesque riverside town of Orchha . This small sleepy town once served as capital of powerful Chandela dynasty. We explore the imposing Palace complex and captivating countryside dotted with many temple ruins.

Day 12 & 13:  Khajuraho
Famous for erotic sculptures depicting scenes from Kama Sutra, Khajuraho is home to tons of temples representing the finest sculptural art and architecture splendor of medieval India. During our stay we have a guided tour to explore these wonderful temples.

Day 14: Chitrakoot
Sprawled along the banks of the Mandakini River, Chitrakoot is a serene holy pilgrimage town and the site of a major incident in the holy Ramayana epic - it was here that Rama and Sita spent 11 of their 14 years in exile..

Day 15: Boat trip on Ganges
Sail down India's most sacred River Ganges on local boats and enjoy delicious meals cooked on the floating kitchen. We pass through enchanting fishing villages and witness rural life. Camp on the riverbank and become part of local life

Day 16 & 17: Varanasi
Possibly the oldest city in the world, Varanasi is the most significant pilgrimage place for Hindus. We walk in the narrow twisting alleys to peep into thousands of its temples and shrines, take a boat ride on the Ganges at dawn, when it is full of pilgrims and the experience spirituality at its peak by participating in the evening lamp ceremony

Day 18 & 19:  Lucknow
Explore this city of Nizams, one of the key battlegrounds of the 1857 Uprising, the Residency, before heading out to the old city to see traditional craftsmen producing rich gold zari work, delicate chikan embroidery and strong attar perfume. Do not forget to taste delicious “Tunde ke kababs”, a local delicacy . Catch a sleeper train in the evening for Delhi.

Day 20: Delhi / Tour End
Arrive into Delhi in the morning and transfer to a centrally located hotel where we have a couple of rooms for you to use until midday, when the trip finishes.

Local Payment: There is a local payment of USD 250 attached to this trip. It should be paid on day 2 of the tour to your trip leader in Cash/Travellers Cheque in US $ or INR

Fitness Level (2):
No particular level of fitness is required for this holiday. These trips are a normally relaxing break and does not involve any activities which are physically demanding but still need to be in good health as intensive walking is engaged while sightseeing and other optional activities.

Combination trip:
This trip is in combination with “Colours Of Rajasthan” .

Delhi - an orientation tour around Chandni Chowk and Jama Mosque including transport. Udaipur – guided tour to City Palace and Jagdish Temple. Jaipur - guided excursion to Amber Fort including transport. Fatehpur Sikari- guided tour; Agra - one visit to the Taj Mahal including transport and local guide fees. Orchha- orientation tour to palace complex and temples. Kujaraho- guided tour to western temple complex. Varanasi- morning boat ride and orientation walk. Lucknow- guided city tour to Imambara, residency and St Martin’s School
 
Included Activities Boat trip
On day 15, we board the local boat and sail down the holy river Ganges, passing village communities, and viewing river life as it goes on around us. Our crew is on hand to cook delicious meals and we spend a night camping in tents on the river banks. Please bear in mind the camp site is basic.

“Hotel Florence Inn” is located in Karol Bagh market area, Opposite New Bloom School on a link road between “Ajmal Khan road and “Saraswati Marg. The hotel is surrounded by a mix of local vendors, shops and small restaurants. It is 20 minutes by auto rickshaw (INR 50-60 with bargaining) to get to the heart of New Delhi, Connaught Place. Cannought Place offers tons of India and multi- cosine restaurants, branded cloth store, books, medical and convenience shops


Single travellers

As part of Escape Voyages core philosophy, we do not charge a single supplement. You'll probably be sharing your accommodation with a travelling companion of the same gender, your tour will probably have a strong social element and you'll almost certainly come home with some great new friends.
